Every Confirmed GTA 6 Brand and the Real Company It Replaces
There is no Coca-Cola in Vice City. No Nike, no Ford, no Instagram, no Uber. Rockstar built a state the size of three Red Dead maps and invented every single sign in it.
That was a business decision, and an expensive one. Analysts have pointed out that Vice City's billboards alone could function as a massive advertising surface worth millions in revenue. Take-Two said no. GTA 6 carries no real-world product placement, and the company has confirmed it publicly.
So every brand you interact with in Leonida is fake. Here is every one confirmed so far, what it replaces, and why one of them matters more to your money than the rest combined.
The Phone Apps
The phone in GTA 6 is a physical object in the world rather than a menu overlay. The camera pushes in over the character's shoulder when it comes out, and each protagonist runs their own apps and follows their own accounts. CONFIRMED via VICE.
That makes the app list a real gameplay layer, not set dressing.
Snapmatic replaces Instagram
Snapmatic returns as GTA 6's photo and social feed. Jason and Lucia can browse posts, follow accounts, and read online conversations, but they cannot upload their own photos. Rockstar's stated reason: they are fugitives avoiding a digital trail. CONFIRMED via VICE, Extended Look broadcast.
Why it matters for money: videos and posts discovered on Snapmatic lead to actual locations and people around the map. Some accounts posting content online can later be found in the real world. That makes the feed a discovery layer for content you would otherwise have to stumble across. Our phone and social media guide breaks down the full money angle.
Ryde Me replaces Uber and Lyft
Ryde Me is the in-game rideshare app. Request a driver, then either ride along or skip the journey and fast travel. You can hold full voiced conversations with other passengers during the ride. CONFIRMED via Extended Look broadcast, Kotaku.
Why it matters for money: fast travel is time, and time is the scarcest resource in any GTA economy. A rideshare that skips a cross-map drive is a real efficiency tool once you are running jobs across multiple regions.
BuckMe replaces CashApp
This is the one that actually matters.
BuckMe is a digital banking app, and it is one of GTA 6's three separate money types. Cash on Person is physical money you carry, and it can be stolen from you. ATM Card Balance is stored money, safer than cash on hand. BuckMe Digital is fully protected and cannot be taken. It appears in the top-right of the HUD with a purple icon. CONFIRMED via TGG, August 31.
Why it matters for money: every other app on this list is a joke. This one is your bank. The old GTA instinct of accumulating one big number is wrong in GTA 6, because a big number in Cash on Person is a liability rather than an asset. The play after every score is to move money up the tiers as fast as possible. Cash to ATM. ATM to BuckMe. Full breakdown in our money systems guide.
Worth flagging an inconsistency in the coverage: when the buckme.app domain first surfaced in a Take-Two registration list, community speculation pegged it as a Patreon or OnlyFans parody. The confirmed in-game function is a digital money balance, which puts it much closer to CashApp or Venmo. We are going with the confirmed function over the earlier guess.
Waink has no real-world equivalent
Waink is a vehicle scanning app, and it is the only entry on this list that is not a parody of anything specific. Point your phone at any vehicle and it returns the estimated resale value, the personal registration cost, the lock type, whether an alarm is fitted, and whether the car carries a GPS tracker. CONFIRMED via IGN, GameSpot, Kotaku, VICE.
The closest real-world comparison is a VIN lookup service, but no real app tells you whether a car is alarmed and tracked before you take it. This is a Rockstar invention built for a specific mechanic.
Why it matters for money: Waink turns car theft from gambling into informed decision-making. A high-value car with a tracker you cannot defeat is a worse target than a modest car with a simple lock. Scanning before you act is the single highest-value habit in the car theft loop.
The Businesses and Locations
NINE1NINE
The Vice City nightclub Jason and Lucia dance in during Trailer 2. Confirmed as a real, named location in the game. Leaked footage showed a full multi-level interior with a dance floor, bars, and contextual prompts. CONFIRMED as a location.
Megamundo
The corporate empire belonging to Andres de Leon, described on screen in the Extended Look as opening its first corporate headquarters on American soil. Construction models sat on de Leon's desk. Jason and Lucia work security at the opening party. CONFIRMED via Extended Look broadcast.
Why it matters for money: this is the closest thing to a business empire storyline Rockstar has shown. No purchase interface appeared anywhere across the reveal window, which means business involvement in GTA 6 may run through the story rather than through a menu.
Pay 'n' Spray
The vehicle respray shop returns. Respraying a wanted vehicle removes the vehicle identification police have on you. CONFIRMED via creator previews.
Why it matters for money: the vehicle icon is one of six police identification vectors. Pay 'n' Spray is a paid reset. That cost comes directly out of your job profit, which is why the witness system is a money system rather than a police system.
The Ultimate Edition shops
Four named businesses confirmed through Rockstar's own Ultimate Edition listing: Rideout Customs (custom vehicle builds and donk styling), One-Eyed Willie's in Lake Leonida (off-road modifications and hand-painted artwork), Sara's Unisex Salon (hair and grooming), and a Stockyard streetwear store. Electric Fang Tattoo carries over 50 designs by the FAILE collective. CONFIRMED via Rockstar's official edition listing.
PTT Youngin$
A gang described in Rockstar's own copy as one of Southside Vice City's loudest and most socially active. Ultimate Edition owners raid their compound for contraband. CONFIRMED via Rockstar's official edition listing.
The Vehicle Manufacturers
GTA's fake car brands are the most recognizable part of the parody universe. These are the ones confirmed for GTA 6 through Rockstar's own pre-order and edition materials.
| Real-World Inspiration | GTA Manufacturer | Confirmed GTA 6 Vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| Ford | Vapid | '55 Vapid Stanier, '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy, Vapid Ganado |
| Ferrari | Grotti | '95 Grotti Cheetah |
| Yamaha / Honda | Dinka | Dinka Enduro motorcycle |
| Suzuki | Shitzu | Shitzu Squalo watercraft |
| Various | Crest | Crest kayak |
All CONFIRMED via Rockstar's official edition listing.
Two more appeared in leaked footage rather than official material, so they carry a weaker tag: a Bravado Bison truck and a Truffade Thrax hypercar. Both are established GTA universe manufacturers (Bravado parodies Dodge, Truffade parodies Bugatti) and both are extremely likely to be in the game, but neither has appeared in official Rockstar material yet. LEAKED, not confirmed.
The Domain Registrations
In addition to what has been shown in-game, Rockstar insider Tez2 identified a set of domains registered under Take-Two nameservers that appear to be GTA 6 in-game websites. Reported by GamesRadar and TechRadar, with the WhoIs trace confirmed by PC Gamer.
The registrations:
- what-up.app — WhatsApp parody
- rydeme.app — the rideshare app, since confirmed in-game
- buckme.app — the banking app, since confirmed in-game
- leonidagov.org — a state government website for Leonida
- brianandbradley.com — likely a personal injury law firm parody, in the tradition of Morgan & Morgan
- Several adult and spoof health sites in the usual GTA register
REPORTED, not confirmed. Take-Two removed the domains shortly after they surfaced, which the community read as indirect confirmation. Two of the six have since been confirmed in-game, which raises the credibility of the rest considerably.
Why Rockstar Invented All of It
Rockstar has spoofed real brands since the series began, and it has never taken product placement money to do otherwise. GTA 4 introduced an in-game internet. GTA 5 gave us a full social media ecosystem. Every one of those brands was invented.
Take-Two's CEO has confirmed GTA 6 continues that policy. No real-world brands. No product placement. This is despite industry analysts arguing that advertising eventually reaches every addressable surface in gaming, and despite the obvious commercial case for putting real logos on Vice City's billboards.
OUR TAKE: the reason is control. A real brand in a Grand Theft Auto game comes with a legal department attached, and that department gets a say in how the brand appears. Rockstar's entire creative approach depends on being able to satirize consumer culture without a client on the phone. Cluckin' Bell can be a punchline. A real fast food chain cannot.
There is also a money read for players. In a world of invented brands, every price, every shop, and every purchase is a designed mechanic rather than a licensing deal. When Rockstar puts a store in Leonida, that store exists because it does something in the economy, not because someone paid for the placement.
What This Means for Your Money
The parody brands are not decoration. They are the interface for the entire economy.
Waink is how you evaluate a target before you take it. Snapmatic is how you find opportunities you would otherwise miss. Ryde Me is how you move across a map three times the size of Red Dead Redemption 2. Pay 'n' Spray is how you clear a police identification vector. And BuckMe is where your money is safe from being taken off your body.
Four of those are the difference between an efficient run and a wasted hour. One of them is the difference between keeping your money and losing it.
The Honest Bottom Line
- CONFIRMED: GTA 6 contains no real-world brands or product placement. Take-Two has stated this publicly.
- CONFIRMED: Snapmatic (Instagram), Ryde Me (Uber and Lyft), and BuckMe (CashApp) are in-game apps shown or described in the Extended Look and creator previews.
- CONFIRMED: Waink is a vehicle scanning app with no direct real-world equivalent.
- CONFIRMED: BuckMe Digital is one of three money types and the only one that cannot be stolen.
- CONFIRMED: Vapid, Grotti, Dinka, Shitzu, and Crest all appear as vehicle manufacturers in Rockstar's official edition materials.
- CONFIRMED: NINE1NINE, Megamundo, Pay 'n' Spray, Rideout Customs, One-Eyed Willie's, Sara's Unisex Salon, Electric Fang Tattoo, and the PTT Youngin$ are named locations or organizations.
- REPORTED: what-up.app, leonidagov.org, brianandbradley.com and others surfaced as Take-Two domain registrations. Two domains from the same list have since been confirmed in-game.
- LEAKED: Bravado and Truffade vehicles appeared in unauthorized footage but not in official Rockstar material.
- OUR TAKE: Rockstar turned down real advertising revenue to keep creative control over how consumer culture appears in its game. For players, that means every brand in Leonida is a designed mechanic rather than a paid placement.
- NOT CONFIRMED BY ANYONE: any GTA 6 price, payout, or income figure. Rockstar has published none.
