CONFIRMED. Rockstar Games released the official Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer on Thursday, October 15, 2026, 35 days before launch. The 90-second trailer was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, debuts a new Justice single, and confirms the French duo as the composers of the game's original score.

What happens in the GTA 6 launch trailer?

CONFIRMED. The trailer opens at a Leonida boatyard, where Jason tows boats and works on a yacht while his voiceover explains that he got in trouble in the army, did not leave on the best of terms, and that banks do not give loans to people like him. The opening is framed by a call from Lucia Caminos in prison, and you can watch the full trailer on Rockstar's YouTube channel.

From there it becomes a montage of the life that waits on the other side of one big score: a seaplane over turquoise Keys water, armed men wading through the Grassrivers swamp at dusk, an airboat at golden hour, and a figure climbing the hull of a yacht at night under police lights. The centerpiece shot places Lucia inside an open bank vault while cash falls through the air around her, and a later shot pairs Jason and Lucia in ski masks with rifles. GameSpot's coverage also flagged the trailer's look at Vice City nightlife, street racing and a crowded beach.

The emotional core lands near the end. On a balcony at sunset, Lucia asks Jason if they are going to be okay, and he answers that they have stuck together through everything and just have to get through this. The trailer then cuts to its closing card restating the only date that matters: November 19.

Who composed the GTA 6 score?

CONFIRMED. Justice, the French electronic duo, composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI, a credit Rockstar revealed in the trailer's own description. The trailer debuts their new standalone single "Flower in a Hurricane," featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

The single also appears on GTA VI: The Album, the official 34-track album of original music created for the game with Atlantic Records. DJ Mag reported the album's announcement on September 17, when the first six singles arrived from artists including Travis Scott, Fred again.., PinkPantheress and Yung Lean. The album is open for pre-save on streaming services now, with vinyl and CD editions up for pre-order, and it releases on November 19 alongside the game.

Why does the trailer start with boat work and a denied loan?

OUR TAKE. The opening is the thesis of the entire story. Jason is an ex-soldier locked out of the legal economy, Lucia is in prison, and neither of them has a path to money that does not run through crime. That is exactly the setup in Rockstar's official synopsis, where an easy score goes wrong and drags the pair into a conspiracy across Leonida. The vault shot lands halfway through the trailer like a promise: this is what the scores are for. GTA 6's story does not start with power or wealth. It starts at zero, which is why every dollar in it is going to matter.

What does the launch trailer mean for November 19?

CONFIRMED. Every part of the drop, the trailer's closing card, its description and Rockstar's posts on YouTube, X and Instagram, restates November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar also states the footage was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, the clearest confidence signal a studio can send five weeks out.

OUR TAKE. The timing is a statement too. The trailer arrived 35 days before launch, far earlier than the 10-day gap Rockstar left before Red Dead Redemption 2's launch trailer in 2018, and on the same morning the real-world Vice City marketing campaign switches on across Miami, which we broke down in our Miami marketing coverage. With preload expected on November 12, the rollout is fully underway. We are logging every confirmed detail from the trailer in our live GTA 6 tracker as the frame-by-frame breakdowns land.
