The $99.99 GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Is Outselling Standard on PS Store
The more expensive version of GTA 6 is currently leading PlayStation Store pre-order charts. Not the $79.99 Standard — the $99.99 Ultimate.
What's Being Reported
GTA BOOM reported on July 21 that the Ultimate Edition currently sits at the top of PS Store pre-order rankings, ahead of the Standard Edition.
Worth being precise about what this is: it's a storefront chart position observed and reported by outlets, not a sales figure released by Rockstar or Take-Two. We're tagging it Community for that reason. No official pre-order numbers have been published.
Why It's Notable
Consider what buyers are committing to. Rockstar has released two trailers, a set of screenshots, cover art and pricing. No gameplay has been shown. No heist mechanics, no economy details, no interface.
And the audience is voluntarily paying an extra $20 anyway.
The $20 buys five vehicles — the '95 Grotti Cheetah, the Dominator Buggy, the Shitzu Squalo boat, the Dinka Enduro and the Crest Kayak — plus two exclusive mod shops including Rideout Customs, and exclusive cosmetics. Rockstar has confirmed the vehicles unlock across the story rather than arriving all at once.
What It Means For Your Money
Our take: this is a demand signal, and it points at the thing we keep coming back to — the sheer scale of launch day.
If the premium tier is outselling the base tier before anyone has seen the game run, the day-one population is going to be enormous and it's going to be motivated. That matters for your wallet in a specific way: millions of players will load into the same brand-new economy simultaneously, and almost none of them will understand how it works. Preparation is worth more when the crowd is bigger.
It also quietly reinforces something about the $99.99 debate. Whatever you think of the price, the market is answering it, and the answer so far is "yes."
If you're still deciding between editions, the honest breakdown is that the mod shops are the real draw and everything else is a head start rather than an advantage. And either way, pre-order before November 20 to lock the Vintage Vice City Pack.
The Day-One Money Plan goes to subscribers shortly before November 19.
