REPORTED. Europe's PEGI ratings board published its GTA 6 listing in early October 2026, then deleted it within hours. Before it vanished, the listing described scenes of intercourse, sexual fetishes, interactive strip clubs, and inventory-based cocaine use, as reported by VGC, IGN, and Radio Times from screenshots of the page.
What did the deleted PEGI listing say about GTA 6?
REPORTED. The details below come from press reports describing screenshots of the since-deleted PEGI page. VGC, IGN via Radio Times, and IBTimes all described the same content.
Violence. PEGI described violence as "bloody with a high degree of realism," with certain weapons able to cause "detailed decapitation and dismemberment."
Drug use. Described as "frequent and prominent." Players can partake in drug use with other characters and use illegal drugs directly from their inventory. PEGI's own example: "cocaine can be carried around by the player and snorted directly from their hand at any time."
Sexual content. The listing described "nudity, scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes."
Strip clubs. "In various nightclubs, the player can also pay for private dances, during which the game allows the player to move their hands onto the dancers' breasts and buttocks."
Animals and language. Players can harm domestic animals, though PEGI noted this "does not produce the same injury detail" as violence toward humans. The listing also flagged frequent profanity and discriminatory language on in-game television and radio, plus in-game purchases.
Why was the PEGI listing deleted?
REPORTED. Nobody knows. PEGI has not explained the removal, and Rockstar has not commented on any of the details, per ghacks. IGN reported the page was replaced with a not-found notice and that it had contacted PEGI for comment. OUR TAKE. The level of detail was unusual for PEGI. Ratings pages are normally terse, and this one read like a design document. The likeliest explanation is that the long-form description went live before it was supposed to, not that the rating itself is in question.
How does this compare to GTA 5's rating?
REPORTED. The contrast is stark. GTA 5's ESRB summary described "rare depictions of dismemberment," a "topless lap dance in a strip club," and noted that "cocaine use is also depicted," as compiled by GTA Intel. The PEGI write-up for GTA 6 goes further in every category: dismemberment as a weapon feature rather than a rare depiction, intercourse scenes rather than implied content, and interactive touching rather than a scripted dance. Australia reached the same conclusion independently, rating GTA 6 R18+ for high impact violence, sex scenes, and drug use, which we covered in our Australia R18+ report.
What does the deleted listing mean for your GTA 6 launch?
OUR TAKE. Two things matter for a money site. First, the "in-game purchases" descriptor appears on both the ESRB and PEGI listings even though Take-Two has confirmed GTA 6 launches with no online mode. As GTA BOOM noted, that label is almost certainly future-proofing for the online component to come, which means the online economy is already scoped inside Rockstar's planning. Second, an 18+ rating this explicit has never dented a GTA launch, and GTA 6 is already tracking toward the biggest entertainment launch in history. The rating is not a risk to sales. It is a preview of how far Rockstar is willing to go.
Frequently Asked Questions
What did the deleted GTA 6 PEGI listing reveal?
REPORTED. The since-deleted listing described "scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes," strip clubs with paid private dances, "frequent and prominent" drug use including cocaine snorted from the player's hand, and "detailed decapitation and dismemberment." VGC, IGN, and Radio Times reported the details from screenshots before the page was removed.
Why was the GTA 6 PEGI rating deleted?
REPORTED. PEGI has not explained the removal, and Rockstar has not commented. NOT CONFIRMED. Whether the page went live early by mistake or was pulled over its unusually specific descriptions is unknown.
Is GTA 6 rated 18+?
CONFIRMED. Australia's Classification Board rated GTA 6 R18+, and the ESRB finalized Mature 17+, both covered in our October 6 reporting. REPORTED. PEGI's 18 rating comes from the since-deleted listing described in press reports, so it carries less certainty than the other two.
Does GTA 6 have strip clubs?
REPORTED. The deleted PEGI listing described nightclubs where players can pay for private dances. Rockstar has not officially confirmed strip clubs, and the listing is the only source describing them in this level of detail.
Will the adult rating hurt GTA 6 sales?
OUR TAKE. Almost certainly not. Every mainline GTA since 2001 has carried a mature rating, and GTA 6 pre-orders are already described by Take-Two's CEO as unprecedented. If anything, the rating confirms Rockstar is not sanitizing the game for a broader audience.
