GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition: Which Is Worth It for Making Money?

6 min readGTA 6 Money HQ

$80 Standard or $100 Ultimate? We break down every confirmed GTA 6 bonus and the honest verdict for players who actually care about making money.

GTA 6 pre-orders are live, and there is exactly one decision to make before November 19: Standard at $79.99 or Ultimate at $99.99. Every other recent GTA buried you in editions. This time Rockstar kept it to two, which makes the choice easy to see but easy to overthink, especially if your goal is making money in Leonida.

This guide breaks down precisely what each edition includes (all confirmed by Rockstar), which extras actually touch the money game, and the honest verdict on whether the $20 upgrade is worth it for a player who cares about stacking cash. No hype, no guessing.

Everything above is CONFIRMED by Rockstar's official edition listing.

What is identical on both (the money truth)

The single most important fact for a money-focused player: the game is the same. Both editions ship the complete single-player story, the entire State of Leonida map, the same economy, the same missions, and the same payouts.

CONFIRMED: the Ultimate Edition gives no faster progression, no mechanical advantage, and no exclusive way to earn. Every extra is a cosmetic, a vehicle, or a bonus location, not a bigger bank balance.

OUR TAKE: if the reason you are eyeing Ultimate is "I will make more money with it," stop. Your earning ceiling on day one is identical whether you paid $80 or $100.

The Vintage Vice City Pack (both editions get it)

Pre-order either edition before November 19 and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack: a classic '55 Vapid Stanier sedan with its own Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, retro outfits and hairstyles for both Jason and Lucia, and an exclusive weapon pattern. CONFIRMED, and tied to pre-ordering before the deadline. Miss the window and you lose it at launch.

Money angle (OUR TAKE): a free, garage-stored classic car is a small head start. A vehicle you do not have to buy in-game is money you keep. Minor, but it is free to both editions, so there is no reason to skip the pre-order.

Everything in the Ultimate Edition (confirmed contents)

Here is the full confirmed list, grouped so you can see what you are actually paying $20 for.

Vehicles

  1. '95 Grotti Cheetah, Grotti's mid-90s sports car, described as a later-stage-action ride.
  2. '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy plus its own Paradise Garage in Watson Bay, which includes a weapon locker and a stash box to deposit stolen goods to be fenced.
  3. A Dinka Enduro motorcycle and Crest Kayak at Jason's safehouse.
  4. A Vapid Ganado Retro Build mod kit for Jason's pickup.
  5. A Shitzu Squalo watercraft docked at Washington Beach.

Shops (single-player, Ultimate-only)

  1. Rideout Customs, a custom mod shop for detailed builds and donk stylings.
  2. One-Eyed Willie's in Lake Leonida, specializing in off-road modifications and hand-painted artwork.
  3. Sara's Unisex Salon for hair and grooming styles.
  4. A Stockyard streetwear store for exclusive apparel.
  5. Electric Fang Tattoo, with over 50 tattoos designed by the FAILE collective.

Weapons His-and-hers Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers, plus personalized versions of Jason's Girardi ES9 and Lucia's Klose K17 pistols.

Side content A Classic Car Collection commission from fixer Wyman, where you track down abandoned project cars and restore them, and the PTT Youngin$ gang compound, which you raid for contraband.

CONFIRMED detail worth flagging: Rockstar says these bonuses are threaded across the story and unlocked chapter by chapter, which also confirms GTA 6 uses a chapter structure similar to Red Dead Redemption 2.

The money-relevant Ultimate extras (OUR TAKE)

Of that entire list, only four things actually brush up against making money. Here is the honest read on each.

  1. Paradise Garage stash box. Rockstar's own words say you deposit stolen goods to be fenced, and fencing means converting stolen items into cash. This is the most directly money-flavored bonus in the pack.
  2. PTT Youngin$ gang compound. You raid it for special items and contraband, which usually means sellable goods. Most likely a one-time score, not a renewable business.
  3. Classic Car Collection. You restore abandoned project cars. In past Rockstar games, collected or restored vehicles are usually keep-or-display content. Whether you can sell them for meaningful cash in GTA 6 is unconfirmed, so treat this as content, not income.
  4. The two mod shops. In GTA Online, an owned mod shop can generate business income. But these are single-player, Ultimate-exclusive customization shops, and there is no confirmation they operate as income-generating businesses in the GTA 6 campaign. Do not buy Ultimate expecting a passive-income machine.

Bottom line on the extras: none is a confirmed money engine. They are flavor plus a couple of one-off scores wrapped around cosmetics.

The GTA+ month (read this carefully)

Digital pre-orders also include one free month of GTA+. CONFIRMED, but be clear on what it is: GTA+ is a GTA Online subscription for the current game. The free month drops GTA$500,000 into your GTA Online account and unlocks GTA Online perks. It does nothing for your GTA 6 money.

OUR TAKE: treat it as a practice-while-you-wait freebie for GTA Online, not part of your GTA 6 launch plan.

So which should you buy?

Buy Standard if:

  1. Your priority is making money and playing the story. You lose nothing that affects earning.
  2. You would rather keep the $20 and decide on cosmetics later.

Buy Ultimate if:

  1. You want the fullest possible world at launch, with five extra shops, five vehicles, and extra side content, and you care about cosmetics and completion.
  2. The Cheetah, extra garages, and exclusive weapons appeal to you as a collector.

Remember, the Ultimate Upgrade can be bought at any time after launch (CONFIRMED), so there is zero pressure to decide now. Start on Standard and upgrade if you fall in love with the world.

The money-grinder's answer (OUR TAKE): pre-order Standard before November 19 to lock the free Vintage Vice City Pack, pocket the $20, and put your energy into a day-one money plan. The edition will not make you rich. Your first moves in Leonida will.

The honest bottom line

CONFIRMED: same game, same economy, same payouts on both editions. Ultimate adds five vehicles, five shops, exclusive weapons, and two pieces of side content, all cosmetic or flavor, threaded through the chapters, and the upgrade is available anytime.

OUR TAKE: for pure money, the $20 buys no edge. The only genuinely money-flavored extras, the fence stash box and the compound raid, are minor and unconfirmed as real income. Buy the edition you want for the vibe, not the bank balance, then get a real launch plan.

That launch plan is the whole reason we are here. Our Day-One Money Plan, the exact first moves to make the moment Leonida opens, drops to subscribers right before launch. Get on the list free and we will send it before Nov 19 so you load in ready instead of guessing.
