GTA 6 Nightclubs: The Best Passive Income Business? (Malibu Club Is Back)

7 min read · Adam B.

The Malibu Club is confirmed back in GTA 6. If nightclubs work like GTA Online - it could be the best passive income in the game. Here's the real math.

Updated August 27, 2026 — post-Extended Look. Two big things landed since we first published this guide. A leaked clip took us inside a named GTA 6 nightclub for the first time. And Rockstar's Extended Look didn't show ownership. Both of those change how this argument reads — and we're updating it in public, as promised.

What's New Since We Wrote This Guide

The NINE1NINE clip. On August 25, leaked footage took us inside NINE1NINE — the exact Vice City nightclub Jason and Lucia dance in during Trailer 2. It's fully interactive: multi-level, dance floor, bars, dancers, sit/dance/greet prompts, and a $50 private dance option when interacting with dancer NPCs. The Weeknd's "Wanderlust" plays in the background. This is the first named, priced money moment we've seen inside a GTA 6 nightclub — LEAKED, not Rockstar-confirmed, and the price is a COST to you, not income. Every outlet covering it independently reported the same details.

The Extended Look showed DJing as a player activity. Fishing, jet skiing, weight lifting, boating, canoeing, basketball — and DJing. CONFIRMED from the official broadcast, part of the activities montage. Players will be able to DJ in GTA 6. That's a real new data point.

The Extended Look did NOT show nightclub ownership. No management interface, no popularity bar, no safe, no income screen. NOT SEEN. Whether that's because Rockstar is holding it for a later reveal or because nightclub-as-owned-business isn't the launch mechanic people are assuming — we can't tell yet, and we're not pretending we can.

The Core Argument (Still Holds)

If GTA 6 nightclubs work the way GTA Online nightclubs work, they'll be the best passive income in the game. Nothing in the Extended Look ruled that out, but nothing confirmed it either. Here's why the argument still matters — with the honest caveats now attached.

Why Nightclubs Print in GTA Online

Before we get to GTA 6, understand what makes the GTA Online nightclub the benchmark. Two income streams stacked on top of each other:

Stream 1 — the safe. Popularity fills a bar. Every 48 minutes of real time, cash drops into a wall safe. Scales with popularity — anywhere from $1,500 up to $50,000 per in-game day at max. Cap is $250,000 total. CONFIRMED — GTA Online.

Stream 2 — the warehouse. Below the club sits a warehouse that produces goods automatically, pulled from businesses you already own. Seven goods types, five technicians max. Fully solo-friendly sales, one delivery vehicle each time. CONFIRMED — GTA Online.

Combined, a properly built nightclub in GTA Online can generate over $1 million per real-time hour at peak efficiency. CONFIRMED — GTA Online, not GTA 6.

The Vice City Precedent

The Malibu Club was Vice City's first ownable nightclub — Tommy Vercetti bought it for $120,000, and it generated up to $10,000 per in-game day as an asset. CONFIRMED — GTA Vice City, 2002.

That number is nothing next to modern GTA Online figures, but the mechanic is the DNA: buy the club, unlock the missions, own the asset, cash accumulates. Rockstar built nightclub ownership 24 years ago and refined it every game since.

What We Actually Know About GTA 6 Nightclubs

Let's separate this cleanly.

LEAKED (NINE1NINE clip, August 25):

  • NINE1NINE is a real, named, fully interactive nightclub in Vice City
  • Multi-level layout — dance floor, bars, separate social areas
  • Contextual prompts: Sit, Dance, Greet, Dancer
  • A $50 private dance option when interacting with dancer NPCs
  • NPC dynamic reactions, packed crowds, ray-traced lighting
  • Music integration confirmed (The Weeknd's "Wanderlust" during Jason's visit)

CONFIRMED (Extended Look, August 27):

  • DJing is a player activity in GTA 6

CONFIRMED (Rockstar trailers and screenshots):

  • Jason and Lucia dance at NINE1NINE in Trailer 2
  • Nightclubs exist as story locations in Vice City

NOT SEEN — the honest gap:

  • No ownership interface anywhere in the Extended Look
  • No popularity bar, no safe, no income screen
  • No confirmation any nightclub is player-buyable

The Distinction That Matters

Read the NINE1NINE clip carefully and notice what it showed: the club from the customer side. Jason walks in. Jason spends $50 on a private dance. Jason dances on the floor. Jason leaves.

That's a spending mechanic, not an earning one. For two years the nightclub conversation in GTA 6 has been about owning one, because in GTA Online that's where the passive income lives. What leaked shows a nightclub you spend money inside — which is not the same thing, and doesn't rule ownership out either.

Here's what we can say with confidence: nightclubs exist as interactive venues, and they cost you money to enjoy. Whether they earn you money once owned is a separate question, and Thursday's reveal didn't answer it.

The Real Math on GTA 6 Nightclubs

The moment ownership is confirmed, here's the framework readers should apply — with GTA Online numbers labeled as GTA Online precedent, not GTA 6 payouts.

If GTA 6 replicates the GTA Online model (safe + warehouse + technicians):

  • Setup cost: several million GTA-dollars, likely
  • Time to profitability: 20-30 hours of gameplay to break even
  • Peak passive income: GTA Online showed up to ~$1M per real-time hour with feeder businesses stacked
  • Solo-friendly: yes, sales run alone with one vehicle

If GTA 6 uses the Vice City model (buy, do missions, collect passive cash):

  • Setup cost: modest one-time purchase, likely $100K-$300K based on Vice City precedent
  • No warehouse, no technicians — just a daily cash generator
  • Vice City's Malibu Club maxed at $10,000 per in-game day. GTA Online precedent scaled it 5x-10x. GTA 6 could go either direction.

If GTA 6 uses something new entirely — which nothing yet rules out — the math resets and we build the guide from scratch when Rockstar shows the interface.

Why NINE1NINE Being Named Matters

Rockstar rarely names venues that are just backdrops. A named nightclub in Vice City appearing prominently in Trailer 2 AND getting a full walkthrough (via leak) strongly implies it's a venue the game wants you to visit and interact with. Whether ownership is one of those interactions is unconfirmed.

Watch for:

  • Any future Rockstar reveal showing NINE1NINE's interior with an ownership prompt, purchase interface, or management screen
  • Confirmation the Malibu Club (Vice City legacy location) returns as an ownable asset
  • Any nightclub-related mission that ends with "you now own this venue" or similar

The Bottom Line on Day-One Planning

Given what we know as of today:

If nightclubs turn out to be ownable AND work like GTA Online: they're the strongest passive income play in the game and worth prioritizing after your first 10-15 hours.

If nightclubs turn out to be ownable BUT work like Vice City: they're a modest cash generator, not the passive income empire — worth buying but not a priority over active-income methods.

If nightclubs are NOT ownable at launch: they're purely spending locations, and the Malibu Club being "back" is a Rockstar nostalgia beat, not a money mechanic. In that case, our best businesses guide is where launch-week planning should focus.

Any of the three could be true. Anyone telling you they know which one is guessing.

The Honest Bottom Line

  • LEAKED — NINE1NINE: a fully interactive named nightclub in Vice City with dance floor, bars, sit/dance/greet prompts, and a $50 private dance cost. From the customer side, not the ownership side.
  • CONFIRMED — Extended Look: DJing is a player activity in GTA 6.
  • CONFIRMED — Vice City legacy: the Malibu Club generated up to $10,000 per in-game day as an owned asset in Vice City (2002).
  • CONFIRMED — GTA Online precedent: nightclub safe income up to $50,000 per in-game day; warehouse operations can push total passive income above $1M per real-time hour when fully built. Applies to GTA Online only.
  • NOT SEEN: any GTA 6 nightclub ownership interface, popularity bar, management screen, or income indicator.
  • NOT CONFIRMED: that any GTA 6 nightclub is player-buyable at launch.
  • OUR TAKE: the moment ownership is confirmed, nightclubs are the strongest candidate for best passive income business in the game. Until then, treat "nightclubs = passive income" as inference from GTA Online, not fact about GTA 6.
