GTA 6 Fence Payout Rates: What's Confirmed (Real Numbers at Launch)

4 min read · Adam B.

No confirmed fence payout numbers exist yet. Here's what Rockstar has said, what RDR2 suggests, and our commitment to real numbers within 24 hours of launch.

Updated September 3, 2026. Short answer: nobody knows the exact rates yet, and anyone giving you a number is making it up.

This page exists because that will change on November 19, 2026. When it does, the real figures go here, sourced, dated, and tagged. Until then, here's everything that is actually known, which is now significantly more than when we first published this page.

What's Confirmed

The Extended Look on August 27 and creator previews from Rockstar North confirmed the fencing system in detail. What remains unknown is every specific dollar figure.

CONFIRMED: fences pay less than face value. Rockstar's own materials describe a local Fence accepting most stolen goods at a "reasonably discounted rate." The discount is confirmed. The size of it is not. CONFIRMED.

CONFIRMED: specialized fences handle different categories of stolen goods. Vehicle fences are a separate category from general goods fences. CONFIRMED via VICE.

CONFIRMED: vehicle fences provide tips about high-value targets at locations like police impound lots. CONFIRMED via VICE.

CONFIRMED: damaged vehicles pay less. Every dent reduces the payout. Delivering in perfect condition pays full discounted value. Delivering a wreck pays a fraction of that. CONFIRMED via VICE.

CONFIRMED: the Waink app shows estimated resale value before you commit. You can see what a car is worth to the fence before you touch it. But estimated value is not the same as the fence's payout, because the discount and any damage reduce the final number. CONFIRMED via IGN, GameSpot, VICE.

CONFIRMED: fence activities unlock car theft tools. Key cloners, which open the high-value vehicle market, are earned through relationship activities with vehicle fences. REPORTED via TGG.

UNKNOWN: every single payout number. The exact discount percentage. Whether the rate varies by fence, by item class, by region, or by relationship level. Whether payouts scale with story progress. Whether different vehicle fences pay different rates. The actual dollar value of any fenced item or vehicle. All unknown.

What We Won't Do

Several sites already list specific GTA 6 fence payouts. Those numbers have no source. There is no gameplay footage of a fence transaction showing a price, no Rockstar statement on rates, and no verified leak with figures in it.

We'd rather have an honest empty page than a wrong full one. When a fence payout number appears on this page, it will come with where it came from and when it was verified.

What the RDR2 Precedent Suggests

OUR TAKE, precedent only, not GTA 6 fact.

Rockstar has shipped a fence economy before. In Red Dead Redemption 2, fences bought stolen goods well below value, certain item categories went to specific buyers, and travel time to a fence was a real cost on every run.

The creator previews confirmed that GTA 6 follows this pattern closely: specialized fences, discounted payouts, and a two-way relationship where the fence both buys goods and unlocks tools. Our full RDR2 comparison grades each prediction against confirmed results. Four of six landed.

What GTA 6 adds beyond RDR2: the Waink scanning app, damage-based value loss, GPS trackers on high-end vehicles, and vehicle storage capacity affecting how much loot you can carry. These are all layers RDR2 never had, and they all affect the effective payout even before the fence's discount rate applies.

The true fence profit formula (from our fencing guide):

Waink estimated value minus the fence's discount cut minus damage to the vehicle minus cost to clear police identification vectors minus fuel cost minus any weapon or vehicle you ditched during escape equals actual profit.

Every variable in that formula is confirmed to exist. The specific numbers for each one are what this page will track.

When This Page Gets Real Numbers

GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026. We'll have verified payout figures on this page within 24 hours of launch, sourced from confirmed player reports and traced back to originals rather than repeated from other sites.

What we will track:

  • Fence discount rates (general goods and vehicle fences separately)
  • Whether rates vary by fence location, relationship level, or story chapter
  • Specific vehicle values at the fence (by make, model, condition)
  • Whether robbery loot payouts differ by item category
  • The real-dollar cost of every variable in the profit formula above

Last verified: no payout data available as of September 3, 2026. 77 days to launch.
