That's not corporate distance. That's a studio saying, in public, that this hurt.

They went further than the leaks. Rockstar apologized for the wait itself — "we are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has," covering both the long development and the long silence on details.

Thursday Is Still Happening, and Nothing Changed

CONFIRMED, and this is the headline for anyone tracking the calendar: the Extended Look premieres on Netflix Thursday, August 27, at 3pm ET / 8pm UK, then goes free on Rockstar's YouTube channel at 9pm ET / 2am UK the same day. Same times we've had all week. Nothing moved.

Release date reaffirmed: November 19, 2026, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Rockstar explicitly said they're determined to "exceed your expectations" on Thursday despite everything.

OUR TAKE: the leaks could have given Rockstar a reason to delay the reveal — pull back, regroup, let the story cool down. They didn't take it. Whatever's ready to show Thursday is still getting shown Thursday. That's either confidence in the material or a studio that's decided delay makes the story worse, not better. Probably both.

The Line That Matters for Day-One Planning

Buried in the statement is an acknowledgement we've been building toward for two days: "while it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19."

Read that as confirmation, not just courtesy. Rockstar is telling you directly that the leaks have created real spoiler risk for your launch day.
